![]() Dr. Daniel E. Moore, Sr. is the proud pastor of the Historic Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Flint, Michigan. A dynamic and visionary leader, he is only the tenth pastor in the church’s 106-year history of worshipping Christ and pacesetting leadership and ministry to the Flint community. Dr. Moore is an emphatic and courageous pastor who is not afraid to take on political and social issues. Under the leadership of Dr. Moore The Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Flint was the first church to support the Flint Community School District with water and supplies during the Flint water crisis; the first church to distribute over 3 million bottles of water and other supplies to the Flint community during the water crisis through national and international partnerships with churches and organizations around the world; the first church to partner with the United States National Guard to host COVID testing clinics during the COVID pandemic; and the first church to partner with the Genesee County Health Department to host COVID-19 vaccine clinics which have served over 30,000 people to date. Under Dr. Moore’s leadership The Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Flint also led the Flint Community in Census registration and voter registration during the COVID-19 pandemic. Under Dr. Moore’s leadership The Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church’s work in the Flint community has been visited and/or celebrated by President Joe Biden, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilcrest II, US. Congressman Dale Kildee, Actor Hill Harper, US Senator Gary Peters, and many other national and local leaders and organizations. Dr. Moore is a celebrated preacher, writer, and musician. In 2010 Dr. Moore penned the song “Rain on Us”, which was recorded by Gospel recording artist Earnest Pugh. “Rain on Us" hit #1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Singles Radio Chart and earned Dr. Moore song of the year honors from Broadcast Music Inc. in Nashville. In 2022 Dr. Moore co-wrote the critically acclaimed and peer reviewed article “WATER BROUGHT US TOGETHER: A BAPTISMAL ETHIC FROM FLINT”, for which the writers were awarded. Dr.Moore Graduated from Central High School in Battle Creek, MI, in 1979. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies from Rochester College where he graduated Summa Cum Laude, a Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary of Dayton Ohio, and a Doctor of Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. Dr. Moore’s dissertation “African American Millennials: Silent Observers Waiting for the Prodigal Church to Come Home” was published digitally by the Seminary. Beside his pastoral duties and community presence, Dr. Moore is a facilitator in the Contextual Ministries Program at United Theological Seminary; A Special Education Case Manager for the Flint Community School District; Vice President of the Great Lakes Baptist District Congress of Christian Education; Certified teacher of The Synoptic Gospels through the National Baptist Convention, USA; and serves as pastor and spiritual father to many young pastors and preachers. Dr. Moore is married to the lovely Denise Moore. Together they have six children and seventeen grandchildren.
